In this series Wyatt shares tips and techniques for improving and enhancing the quality of your final mixes, to help you get that polished professional sound in your productions.

In this episode of Mix/Master, Dubspot Mixing & Mastering instructor and course designer Daniel Wyatt shares techniques for shaping and transforming complex, gritty samples and loops. Here Wyatt works on a hip hop track from Double A.B. & Dub Sonata which samples a dusty soulful groove from a record. He uses two plug-ins to sculpt the sound: the SoundToys Decapitator to add saturation, and iZotope Alloy 2 for limiting, EQing, widening, and de-essing to reshape and boost the sample. This is a universal technique you can apply using plug-ins native to most host applications as well, including Ableton Live and Logic.
